Environmental Reviews
Whether or not you wish to go for ISO 14001 it could be very worthwhile anyway undergoing an environmental review of your business in order to understand where it stands from an environmental point of view and to identify areas that could be improved on or where potential savings could be made. The review would typically cover the following general areas:
- Waste by-products and their means of disposal
- General office type waste, disposal and recycling
- Energy consumption
- Consumption of other non renewable resources
- The impact on the environment generally
The benefits that could be derived from an environmental review are:
- Identifying cost savings resulting from reduction in energy usage
- Cost savings resulting from reductions in usage of other resources
- Alternative recycling options for by-products
- Identifying new revenue from innovative re-cycling opportunities
- Identifying further environmental efficiencies and reducing impact generally
These reviews can be tailored to suit your business and can entail an initial summary review amounting to just a couple of hours work followed by a short report highlighting some key areas, through to a much more in depth review with more detailed recommendations for improving your environmental performance.
Having undergone a review of this type you would then be in a very good position to move towards ISO 14001 certification if that became an objective.
If you would like more information about environmental reviews and ISO 14001 just email or call for an informal discussion, or even just for some advice.
